Summoning the Best Future

Motto: Stretching the Wings of the Mind’s Eye to See, to imagine, to visualize the Glorious Auroville, the Glorious India, the Glorious World

Purpose

With the help of various print and visual media, to encourage, to help cultivate, individually and collectively, the habit of seeing through the mind’s eye for the best outcome, best result, best possibilities unfolding for the eventual emergence of Auroville as a role model, as a lighthouse for India’s and the world’s supreme renaissance. Then, to extend the same practice to India – to see, imagine, visualize India, drawing inspiration from Auroville vision, worldview, ideas, ideals, aspirations, intentions, efforts & their inspirations, emerging as a country for the world’s supreme renaissance. Finally, to see, imagine, visualize the earth standing “golden-heaven tall,” earth as a “resplendent sun” of life that “illuminates – a radiant glory.”

Explanation

1. While the strength of willpower in the individual, in the nation, in the humankind is the most essential quality for the victorious moulding of the life of the individual, the nation, or humanity, the strength of imagination is no less critical. Numerous research papers and books universally acknowledge the value and importance of cultivating the right imagination for accomplishing things. The following are some extracts from The Mother’s answers.

“If one knows how to use imagination ….one can create for oneself his own inner and outer life; one can build his own existence with his imagination, if one knows how to use it and has a power. In fact it is an elementary way of creating, of forming things in the world. I have always felt that if one didn’t have the capacity of imagination he would not make any progress. Your imagination always goes ahead of your life.” – The Mother (CWTM, Vol. 7, 6 July 1955)

“Imagination opens for you the path of realisation…”

“..what is called imagination is a capacity to project oneself outside realised things and towards things realisable, and then to draw them by the projection…”

“It’s like the antennae going into a world that’s not yet realised, catching something there and drawing it here. Then naturally it is an addition to the earth atmosphere and these things tend towards manifestation. It is an instrument which can be disciplined, can be used at will; one can discipline it, direct it, ‘orientate it. It is one of the faculties one can develop in himself and render serviceable, that is, use it for definite purposes.”

2. In his book The Human Cycle, Sri Aurobindo points out the two conditions for the dawn of a more advanced civilization within the foreseeable future.

One, “the common human mind” admitting “the ideas proper to the higher order,” and two, “the heart of the men” beginning “to be to be stirred by the aspirations born of these ideas.”

Here is the relevant extract:

“…even if the condition of society and the principle and rule that govern the society are opposed to the spiritual change, even if these belong almost wholly to the vital, to the external, the economic, the mechanical order, as is certainly the way at present with human masses, yet if the common human mind has begun to admit the ideas proper to the higher order that is in the end to be, and the heart of the men has begun to be stirred by aspirations born of these ideas, then there is a hope of some advance in the not distant future.” (The Human Cycle)

Summoning the Future, therefore, will each idea, each ideal, each aspiration, each activity, each aspect, each project, each circumstance of

After 29th February 1956, that is after the supramental descent, the Mother begun to refer to the birth and growth of a totally new world, a new force, a new consciousness, a new adventure, a new universal beginning. In one of her answers,  she wrote: “The consciousness that has to be manifested is already in the earth atmosphere. It is now only a question of receptivity.” (19 November 1970) (Ref. CWTM, V.12, p.329).
In other words, the march of human civilization will take its right direction if everything is organized around the idea and aspiration and critera of increasing the human receptivity to the new consciousness.
How to go about it?
The Mother: “There is a long way to go between what we are and what must be. And for that we must be very flexible, never losing sight of the goal, but knowing that we cannot reach it at one bound and that we must find the way. Well, this is much more difficult, even more difficult than to make the inner discovery.” (Ref. The Mother on Auroville)
